Imphal, September 10 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today visited the residence of late Chongtham Vikram at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Imphal West.

The CM was accompanied by Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan during the visit.

Speaking to the family members of the deceased, the Chief Minister expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the renowned musician, and assured them that justice would be delivered and the culprits would be punished.

Expressing solidarity, Khemchand talked to the deceased's parents, wife and son, and assured them that the State Government family will extend all possible assistance and support.

Vikram's demise is a loss for the entire State, said the Chief Minister.

Chongtham Vikram was a music teacher.

He died on September 7 after being assaulted by a group of men a day earlier in Delhi's Kilokri.

Police have arrested seven persons including a minor in the case.

MLA Kh Joykisan shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members, and stated that the incident which took the life of the musician is highly condemnable and very unfortunate.

The State Government, he said, will be providing all the necessary assistance in the case to ensure that justice is delivered.

Joykisan further expressed hope that the culprits involved in the brutal assault would be tried and punished severely.
