Imphal, May 09 2025:
Showing support and solidarity to the Indian armed forces who are currently fighting against terrorism, Congress workers today took out a rally at Imphal.
The rally taken out under the banner Jai Hind Jatra was flagged off at around 9.30 am from Congress Bhavan, BT Road here.
The rally marched up North AOC.
Turning back from North AOC, the rally wound up at the starting point.
The rally taken out under a directive of All India Congress Committee (AICC) was led by MPCC president K Meghachandra, CLP leader Okram Ibobi and CWC Member Gaikhangam.
Former Lok Sabha Member Dr T Meinya also took part in the rally.
Speaking about the rally, O Ibobi said that the Indian armed forces have been battling against terrorists without worrying for their own lives.
"As a show of support and solidarity to the Indian armed forces, Congress workers are taking out a Tiranga rally holding the Tricolour", Ibobi said.
The current war is not directed against any specific community.
Any act of terrorism regardless of the place of occurrence is intolerable to the Government of India and the Congress party in particular, he said.
The Congress party is always opposed to all forms of terrorism irrespective of whether the terrorists are Muslims or Hindus or Christians, he said.
Observing that the current escalation stemmed from the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, Ibobi remarked that the current escalation would not have been seen had there been no terror attack.
The Government of India and the Indian armed forces are not targeting civilians or Pakistani military facilities.
India is only targeting the terrorists who are taking shelter in Pakistan and the Congress party fully supports all actions of the Government aimed at eradicating terrorism, he said.
Congress party cannot tolerate terrorism.
Decisive actions must taken against terrorists.
As such, the Congress party fully supports the Indian soldiers in their fight against terrorism, Ibobi said.
