IOCL introduces DAC to check unauthorised LPG sale

Imphal, December 31 2025: To prevent unauthorised delivery and sale of LPG in the black market, IOCL LPG distributors have started using Delivery Authentication Code.

A Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) is a unique, one-time-use code sent via SMS to registered mobile numbers of genuine consumers for authenticating the delivery of LPG gas cylinders.

The use of DAC ensures refilled LPG cylinders are delivered to rightful consumers.

How does it work?

Booking gas cylinders has been made easy and it can be done in multiple ways.

1) Missed-call booking

A consumer can book a gas cylinder for home delivery by simply giving a missed-call on the number 8454955555 through registered mobile number.

The consumer will then receive a unique code, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) on registered mobile number.

The DAC number is then shared with the delivery person at the time of delivery for authentication.

No delivery will be made without a valid DAC .

2) SMS booking

First-time SMS registration: Send an SMS in the format: IOC <STD + Distributor's Landline Number> <Consumer Number> to 7718955555 .

Example: If the distributor's phone is 07321-269573 and your consumer code is 12468970, you'd send: IOC 7321269573 12468970 to 7718955555 .

After registration, for subsequent bookings, simply send "IOC" to the same number (7718955555) .

Booking confirmation is sent via SMS to your registered mobile.

3) IVRS/Phone call

Call 7718955555 (the IVRS number) from your registered mobile.

The IVRS system will guide you to:
a) Choose a language (Hindi/English)
b) Enter your distributor's STD code + landline number
c) Enter your customer/consumer number
d) Select "Refill Booking" then confirm
Once done, you'll receive confirmation on your registered mobile.

4) WhatsApp booking

Save the number 7588888824 on your phone.

Open WhatsApp, send the message "REFILL" from your registered mobile number to that number (7588888824) .

To check the status of your booking, send STATUS#<order number> to the same WhatsApp number.

WhatsApp booking is allowed only from your registered number.

5) Mobile App/Online portal You can book via the Indian Oil One App (available for Android/iOS) .

Alternatively, use the Indane portal on IOCL's website to login, register, and make bookings.

After successful booking, you receive an e-receipt via SMS .

Benefits of DAC

The use of DAC ensures delivery of LPG cylinders to genuine consumers.

If a distributor is caught selling refilled LPG cylinders in the black market or making unauthorised delivery, the IOCL may take strict actions according to relevant rules and guidelines.

A distributor found indulging in fraudulent sale of LPG cylinders may face disciplinary actions and even suspension or termination of its license.

In a State like Manipur facing challenges in transportation due to economic blockade, general strikes, the new initiative is expected to help fair distribution of LPG and curtail abuse/ misuse by the distributors, said sources in the IOCL .
