17 Coys of CPMF sent

Imphal, December 11 2016:
In view of the indefinite economic blockade and ban on National projects imposed by the UNC, the Central Government has sent 17 companies of Central paramilitary forces to the State for protection of National Highways leading to and from Imphal.
Against 60 companies of CPMF sought by the State Government for securing Imphal-Dimapur highway and Imphal-Jiribam highway, the Central Government sent 17 companies, a high ranking police officer told The Sangai Express.
Two companies of CRPF and five companies of BSF have already been deployed along the two National Highways.
Meanwhile, four companies of SSB reached Imphal today and eight more companies of BSF are expected to reach here on December 14 .
It is said that the Central Government is likely to send some companies of CRPF in the coming days.
At the moment, 10 companies of CRPF are being utilised in escorting vehicles from Mao and Jiribam to Imphal.
Apart from the Central paramilitary forces, State police commandos, IRB and MR are also being used to escort vehicles along the two National Highways, added the source.
