Assam Rifles reaches out to drug rehabilitation centre at Moreh

Moreh, July 29 2026: Assam Rifles organised a community outreach programme at Adullam Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Moreh, in Tengnoupal district, on Wednesday as part of its continued efforts towards community welfare, youth empowerment and combating substance abuse.

According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the programme was organised following a request from the centre's staff to the Commandant, Assam Rifles.

The initiative aimed to motivate residents undergoing rehabilitation to adopt a disciplined, healthy and purposeful lifestyle and build confidence to reintegrate into society with dignity and self-reliance.

To support their holistic well-being and daily welfare, Assam Rifles distributed essential ration items along with sports equipment, including a carrom board, a chess set, two badminton rackets, a badminton net and ten shuttlecocks.

The sports gear was provided to foster physical fitness, teamwork and positive engagement as vital components of recovery.

An interactive session was also conducted on career opportunities in the Indian Army, during which participants were briefed on recruitment avenues, eligibility criteria and the core values of discipline, courage and integrity, with the aim of inspiring them towards constructive nation-building.

An awareness session on the ill effects of drug abuse was also held, sensitising the residents to the physical, psychological and social consequences of addiction and encouraging them to become ambassadors for a drug-free society.

The programme benefited 65 residents and received appreciation from the centre's staff and inmates.
