Imphal, May 27 2026: With the onset of the hot season and the rising risk of fire and related hazards, the Fire Service Department, Manipur on Wednesday conducted a series of fire safety awareness programmes and mock drills across multiple schools in the State.

The exercises were held at PM Shri Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya, Rengkai Hr Sec School, Vimala Raina High School in Churachandpur, and Phoubakchao Makha High School and Yumnam Huidrom Hr Sec School in Mayang Imphal.

Organised by the Manipur Fire Service, the programme aimed to sensitise students and staff to preventive measures and emergency response during fire incidents.

Participants were briefed on common causes of fire during the dry season, safe evacuation procedures, and the use of basic firefighting equipment.

Officials demonstrated do's and don'ts in case of fire outbreaks and carried out five mock drills to give students hands-on understanding of evacuation and rescue protocols.
