Imphal, May 26 2026: The 78th Junior Basic Training Course (Diploma in Cooperative Management), organised by the Manipur State Cooperative Union, was inaugurated today at the Centre for Cooperative Management Training Hall, Lamphelpat.

The six-month programme was launched by Cooperation & Special Secretary (Finance) W Malemnganba Chenglei, as chief guest.

Registrar of Cooperative Societies W Ibohal attended as guest of honour, while MSCU President L Tompishak presided.

Chenglei said the cooperative movement is vital for the State and assured that the department would address gaps in cooperative societies.

He urged trainees to adopt best practices from other societies.

Ibohal noted that cooperative societies once played a key role but have declined, stressing that trainees must learn with dedication and not just for certification.

Tompishak said participants from far-flung districts face lodging issues and requested the department to consider constructing a hostel to support trainees.
