Senapati, Kangpokpi LAM members bat for secure service

Senapati, July 25 2025: Teacher members of the Lecturers' Association, Manipur (LAM) belonging to Kangpokpi and Senapati districts have demanded early regularisation of their services while rejecting the contractual salary as reportedly proposed by the government.

As part of the ongoing pen-down strike by LAM, regularised lecturers of 2018 batch belonging to Senapati and Kangpokpi districts converged at Senapati district headquarters on Friday to mark the fifth day of the strike.

The striking lecturers later held a press conference wherein one of the lecturers explained that LAM is an association formed by service regularised lecturers of the 2018 batch, who were appointed on contract basis.

Government regularised these lecturers on January 8, 2022 as per a cabinet decision taken on January 4, 2022 with the concurrence of DP (UO No 96(A) 2021-2022) .

The government order clearly mentioned that the lecturers will be entitled regular salary and allowance with effect from April 1, 2023 but none has received regular pay till date, the lecturer lamented.

While urging government to complete regularisation procfess at the earliest and provide regular salary as compliance with the order, the lecturer warned that lecturer members of LAM will intensify the agitation if the government fails to look into grievances of the lecturers of 2018 batch.

The lecturer continued that prolonged and lackadaisical steps taken by government in completing the necessary process for service regularisation and non- payment of regular salary compelled the association to launch the agitation.
