Vendors to shift to incomplete Bishnupur Keithel

Bishnupur, July 24 2025: Lumlangdong Ima Keithel Chaokhat Lup president L Nganbi has declared that women vendors have decided to trade their wares in the under-construction Bishnupur Bazar Ima Keithel on an auspicious day, as the government has failed to complete and inaugurate the project.

Speaking at a public meet held at the Ima Keithel on Thursday, L Nganbi reasoned that the decision was taken in view of eviction of women vendors from streets as per government order.

Chipping in, Lup secretary Ch Meipaktombi Devi stated that women vendors had shifted to the two temporary markets built by the government to facilitate construction of the new Keithel.

However, due to increase in the number of women vendors, the temporary markets have no vending space, she said, adding that licenced women vendors agreed recently to shift to the new Keithel even though the building construction is not yet complete.

Reiterating their decision to resume trade activities at the new Keithel on an auspicious day, she said memorandums would be submitted to the Local MLA and the Bishnupur deputy commissioner conveyance their decision.
