Imphal, February 20 2026: A Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (Meelal) team inspected Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) Class XII exams in Meitei Mayek across valley districts yesterday, praising student handwriting while criticizing prominent Roman script in question papers.

The team was thrilled to see students writing the Meitei Mayek paper with neatness and proficiency, praising both the examinees and their teachers.

However, they raised a concern about the question papers, describing the prominent Roman script headings as "most unfortunate".

Meelal has urged the COHSEM to use "very clear and legible" Meitei Mayek script in future exams, minimizing Roman script reliance.
