MEELAL observes Meetei Mayek Implementation Day

The Meetei ErolEyek Loisasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) observed the 18th Meetei Mayek Chatnakhiba Numit (Meetei Mayek Implementation Day) on Sunday.
The event held at MEELAL Head Office in Imphal was graced by dignitaries, including HERICOUN vice president Kongkham Kiran, MEELAL president Khaidem Ingocha and vice president Oinam Kainahanbi.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaidem Ingocha recounted the hardships and struggle of MEELAL members who fought for the implementation of Meetei Mayek in the State.
"Meetei Mayek was officially implemented from May 18, 2005 after MEELAL had an agreement with the then Government and it was inducted in school syllabus from 2006", he added.
He also announced plans to intensify outreach efforts across Manipur and among Manipuri communities in Assam and Tripura.
During the event, the gathering observed one minute of silence to pay respect to the deceased members of MEELAL and the brave heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in the ongoing conflict.
They also offered floral tributes to a photograph of Chingsubam Akaba who championed the cause for Meetei Mayek.
