Imphal, June 16 2025:
All preparations have been completed for observance of the 24th The Great June Uprising Unity Day on June 18, 'Observation' Committee chairman Ph Nando Luwang has informed, and urged the people to participate in offering floral tributes to the martyrs.
Briefing the media at Kekrupat on Monday, Nando said that the observance organised jointly by AMUCO and UCM will include a blood donation camp.
Recounting how many people were martyred in protecting the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur since June 18, 2001 when the phrase "without territorial limit" was incorporated in the cease fire agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) on June 14 in Bangkok the same year; Nando said that the observance is not against any community, but as a reminder of the attempts made by the government of India to divide the people of the state, who have been living together in harmony since time immemorial.
Nando continued that despite the people of Manipur making it clear that they are not afraid to die to protect the integrity of the state, the government of India has not stopped making its sinister moves against Manipur.
He said that the annual observance is instilling courage to all to continue standing up for their motherland no matter the attempts made to divide the integrity and unity of Manipur.
Chipping in, Committee vice chairman YK Dhiren urged the people to participate in the observance and show the unity and strength of Manipur.
