Moirang College observes National Science Day

National Science Day wasobserved today at the Moirang College Conference Hall under the theme "Women in Science: Catalysing for Viksit Bharat." The programme, originally scheduled for February 28, was deferred due to the ongoing Manipur University FYUP examinations.
The event was organised by the Moirang College Science Club in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Moirang College in a press release said that the event aimed to honor the contributions of women in the scientific field and inspire the next generation of female scientists.
The programme was graced by Principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh as the chief guest, IQAC coordinator Dr Ph Raju Singh as the guest of honour, and Science Club convener Th Surchandra Singh as the functional president.
As part of the celebration, a Science Model Competition on the theme "Women in Science" was organised, witnessign enthusiastic participation from students of various departments.
The winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh underscored the critical importance of observing National Science Day and shared insights into the theme "Women in Science: Catalysing for Viksit Bharat".
He motivated the students by sharing the inspiring legacy of women in science, noting that a total of 27 women have been awarded the Nobel Prize in science-related fiels so far, including five in Physics, eight in Chemistry and 14 in Physiology or Medicine.
Encouraging the girls students, he said that despite limitations in infrastructure, dedication and hard work could help them achieve great heights.
He expressed confidence that students of Moirang College have the potential to make significant contributions to science and even win Nobel Prizes, thereby contributing to India's vision of becoming a developed nation, Viksit Bharat, by 2047 .
