AR conducts workshop on bamboo art crafting

Imphal, May 15 2025: Assam Rifles conducted a one-week skill workshop on "Bamboo Art Crafting" at Gamphazol village, providing a valuable opportunity for local residents to tap into the region's abundant bamboo resources.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the workshop aims to equip the participants with necessary skills to excel in bamboo-based small-scale industries.

Covering various aspects of bamboo art including design, crafting and finishing techniques, the initiative is expected to empower the local community, particularly women and youth, to leverage natural resources and create sustainable livelihood opportunities, said the PRO, adding that by imparting practical skills and knowledge, Assam Rifles is contributing to economic growth and development in the region while promoting a sense of unity and cooperation.

The focus on bamboo art and handicrafts also highlights the potential for cultural preservation and promotion, showcasing the rich heritage of the local community, said the PRO in a release.
