Imphal, September 13 2026:
The 27th Foundation Day of National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) was observed at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, on Sunday.
Advisor of NIPCO Sunil Karam, convenor of COCOMI YK Dhiren, advisor of UPF Laishangthem Jadumani and NIPCO president Oinam Premjit attended as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, O Premjit said it is unfortunate that the Centre and the State Government have not come out with a concrete solution to the issues facing the State.
Instead of resolving the issues, attempts are being made to create enmity among different communities and the Government of India is waging a proxy war to disintegrate the State, he alleged.
He called for deliberations on what can be done in such a situation.
He said the Government should stop viewing CSOs working for the cause of the State as anti-Government.
If the Government translates the voice of the people into action, Manipur can become a peaceful State, he said.
He also said that ignoring the people's agitations is a big mistake on the part of the Government.
The Census work should be taken up after updating the NRC with 1951 as base year and the Government should sincerely work on the issue, he added.
