Women urged to help address state's issues

Democratic Women Front (DWF) vice president Khundongbam Shini has urged the womenfolk to shoulder the responsibility of addressing suffering of the people of Manipur.
She made the statement during the first women sensitisation programme on "The Voice of Manipur: Empowering Women for Integrity and Prosperity" organised by DWF, the women's wing of Democratic People's Front (DPF) at the Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi office of Naharol Sintha Lup, on Saturday, The programme was attended by DPF president Dr Narengbam Rajivkumar and DWF president Khundongbam Bhartini as presidium members.
Pointing out that Manipur has been facing numerous issues in the wake of the ethnic conflict which broke out over two years back, Shini regretted that those in the government have turned a deaf ear to the plight of the people.
"As such, we need to elect a leader from amongst us who can work sincerely for the people," she stressed.
The vice president reiterated that the womenfolk should strive to contribute their mite in solving issues plaguing the state, similar to taking the leading role as and whenever sensitive issues besieged the state in the past.
As women continue to play an important role in fostering self-governance and self-reliance, the programme was organised with the objective of instilling the same mindset amongst the womenfolk, She reasoned.
DPF president Dr Narengbam Rajivkumar also iterated the important role of the women in solving the issues plaguing Mapipur.
