Imphal, September 12 2026: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) organised a lecture programme on "Congress: Past, Present and Future" at Congress Bhavan, BT Road, today.

During the programme, a two-minute silence was observed in honour of Chongtham Vikram who was beaten to death in Delhi recently and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Addressing the function, Captain Praveen Davar, chairman of the AICC Vichar Vibhag, called for strengthening the Congress party, which played a key role in the country's freedom movement.

He said that the Congress party, which believes in secularism, has been safeguarding the integrity of India and will continue to do so.

Claiming that the BJP-led Government has failed in its foreign policy and other aspects of governance apart from weakening the country's economy, the AICC leader maintained that the people of the country need to work together to save the country from the BJP-led Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The programme was also attended by MPCC vice presidents Hareshwar Goswami and K Tilotama and vice president (in-charge Vichar Vibhag) Md Amin Shah and chairman (Vichar Vibhag) Oinam Romen among others.
