MSFDS curtails events, opts for quiet tribute

Imphal, April 08 2026: The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) has announced the curtailment of its upcoming observance plans, including the 19th Mami Numit, the 5th Foundation Day of SN Chand Cine Archive & Museum, and the Nongin Music Video Award distribution programme.

The events, originally scheduled for Thursday, April 9, have been significantly scaled back due to the "evolving situation prevailing in the State", according to a release from the society.

Instead of the planned public programmes, the MSFDS will hold a quiet, ceremonial floral tribute to honour the pioneers of Manipuri cinema who have passed away.

This homage is intended to maintain a long-standing tradition.

The tribute will be paid at the Manipuri Cinema Memorial Stone in MSFDS Complex, Konung Mamang, on April 9, from 11 am to 3:30 pm .

Families, friends, well-wishers, and members of the film fraternity are invited to visit the complex at their convenience to offer their respects.

The MSFDS has appealed to the public and stakeholders to cooperate and support those gathering to pay homage at the location.
