Trust appeals Governor to restore peace

Imphal, March 06 2025: Sangai Trust Foundation submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla urging immediate action to restore peace and normalcy in the state, plagued by ethnic violence since May 3, 2023 .

While expressing gratitude to the Governor for concerted efforts in addressing the crisis, the memorandum suggested that a comprehensive action plan be formulated for expeditious and proper resettlement and rehabilitation of the violence-affected displaced families, with special focus on their livelihood source and health challenges.

It also called for the strict enforcement of ground rules of the suspension of operation (SoO) agreement signed with Kuki armed outfits to curb the ongoing violence, while also stressing the need to uphold unity, integrity and diversity of Manipur, and to neutralise all attempts to bifurcate the state.

Furthermore, it urged for addressing the conflict by engaging stakeholders concerned to find a peaceful and lasting solution.

The Sangai Trust Foundation also expressed hope that the Governor would take decisive action in restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur which has been home to diverse communities since time immemorial.
