Red Cross ambulance service launched

Imphal, September 02 2025:
To improve emergency patient transport across the State, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal East District Branch, Manipur State launched its first ambulance service on Tuesday.
During a launching event held at Imphal East DC Complex in Porompat, two ambulances of IRCS Imphal East District Branch were officially flagged off by Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East and Dr RK Nimai, retired IAS officer and vice president of IRCS Imphal East District Branch.
The two ambulances were donated by Dr RK Ranjan, former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Dr Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.
Notably, the ambulance service was launched with the aim to provide low-cost, rapid medical assistance to the public.
A fixed charge of Rs 1000 will be applied for ambulance service within a distance of 5 Km.
An additional charge of Rs 50 will be applied for every kilometer traveled beyond the initial 5 Km.
The amount will be used to support the.
volunteers driving the ambulances, purchasing fuel and maintenance.
