Imphal, September 01 2025: A remarkable addition to the cultural literature of Manipur was made with the release of "Nat Sankirtani Mahadhumel Da Pung Gi Punglon" authored by Guru Sapam Kullabi Singh.

The book release function, organised by the Sapam Family Trust, Langthabal Nambul Mapal, Imphal, was held on August 30 at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) .

The occasion was graced by Sagolshem Kebi Devi, MLA, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC; eminent playwright and theatre critic Budha Chingtham; and P Bilash Singh, Director, JNMDA as presidium members.

At the event, speakers underlined the need to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Nat Sankirtana, recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.

They lauded the author's efforts in documenting the intricate rhythms of the Pung, the traditional drum that forms the soul of Sankirtana performance.

The programme also witnessed recitals, cultural reflections and interactions, and concluded with a book signing and a vote of thanks.
