Assistant Commissioner of Customs Division Imphal, RK Darendrajit was produced before the Duty Magistrate today and taken into one day police custody remand for further investigation in connection with the seizure of illegal arms and ammunition from his residence during a raid by CBI yesterday.
RK Darendrajit of Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa Leikai, was pulled up last night and lodged in Porompat PS after a huge quantity of live ammunition and one unlicensed .22 rifle, were recovered by CBI Anti Corruption Cell, during a raid at the residence of the Asst Commissioner for possession of property disproportionate to his source of income.
According to a reliable source, during the raid, CBI (ACB) Imphal seized Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, gold ornaments worth around Rs 3 lakh, one .32 pistol along with 24 live ammunition, 350 numbers of live .22 rifle ammunition and One .22 rifle from his possession.
Soon after, a team of Porompat PS was informed and a case was registered at the police station and Darendrajit was taken into the police custody last night.
Today, Darendraj it was produced before a duty Magistrate along with a prayer for remanding him to police custody for further investigation of the case.
The duty Magistrate, after going through the case record, remanded the alleged accused into police custody till tomorrow.
According to the FIR report of CBI uploaded in their official website, the raid was carried out by CBI (ACB) Imphal led by DSP MT Mang yesterday morning after a case was registered by CBI (ACB) Imphal in connection with alleged illegal possession of assets both immovable and movable to the tune of 2,52,79,681 approx in the name of the alleged accused and his family members which are allegedly acquired during the period from 1 January 2010 to 30 November 2018 and are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
