Training programme concludes

Imphal, December 22 2018:
A training programme conducted to provide a livelihood to the womenfolk of Keibul Lamjao National Park's surrounding villages and also to preserve and promote the State's animal 'Sangai' was concluded yesterday.
The training programme was jointly organised by Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, Green Foundation, Manipur and State Forest Department from December 17 to 21 at Sinsang Common Facility cum Training Centre, GF, Sekmaijin Thongam.
Project scientist, WII, Dr Chongpi Tuboi said that several human activities have challenged the survival of 'Sangai' and has been sowing the seed of its extinction.
Various initiatives taken up to save the State animal from extinction will not be possible without the support of the villagers, he said and added that altogether 3 such training programmes have been conducted so far.
CEO, Green Foundation, U Himmat said that altogether 53 women form 36 surrounding villages took part in the training programme which mainly focused on making bakery items.
