Four BDS interns of RIMS Dental Hospital, have warned to shut down the hospital's OPD from Monday if RIMS authorities do not take up any initiative regarding their demand for stipend at par with their MBBS counterparts, within three days .
The BDS interns of the (dental) hospital took out a rally inside the premise of RIMS hospital and later staged a sit-in in protest demanding equal stipend .
Speaking to media persons, the BDS interns decried the failure of RIMS Dental authority to keep the promise it made in the past that the BDS interns of the hospital will be given Rs 17,900 from next month, which is equal to their MBBS counter parts.
The BDS interns are given a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 for three consecutive months .
They informed that the assurance was made by the hospital authority after the first batch of the dental hospital shut down the hospital's OPD in the past .
Stating that they have been protesting to get stipend on par with their MBBS counterparts, the BDS interns went on to say that the authorities of the hospital also assured them of the increased stipend during the convocation day of the senior batch .
The interns of Government's medical and dental colleges all over India, are getting equal stipend, the protesters asserted, adding that they will continue holding the protest until their demands are met .
Mention may be made that BDS interns are being engaged in the OPD section of the dental hospital.
