One day assessment camp for Persons with Disabilities held

The Department of Social Welfare, Manipur in collaboration with Department of Health Services, Manipur, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and District Administration, Imphal West organized a one day assessment camp for issuance of disability certificate, aids and appliances to Persons with Disabilities at DC office complex Lamphelpat, Imphal West today .
Speaking to media persons, District Social Welfare Officer, Imphal West, Arambam Kameshwar Singh said that the camp has been organised to assess the disabled persons in Imphal West for the issuance of disability certificates.
Disability certificate is necessary for the individuals, while applying for any disabled-scheme, he said and highlighted that around 22,000 people with disability among the nearly 56,000 disabled persons in the State, have obtained disability certificates till date .
He stated that many welfare schemes have been launched by the State Government, apart from various Centre sponsored schemes .
He urged all the disabled persons in the State and their families to come at the assessment camps conducted, to avail the opportunity and added that such camps will also be conducted in different parts of the States in the future in order to identify all the disabled persons who deserve their certificates, according to the guidelines given by the authority concerned.
