PM inaugurates 5th IISF, MASTEC & IBSD Takyel take part

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 5th India International Science Festival at Kolkata today via video conference.
Manipur Science and Technology Council and Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Takyel are opening their stalls in the festival.
Meanwhile, a conclave for the North East students will be organised at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre tomorrow in which Education Minister Th Radheshyam will also be present.
An overseas Ministers and diplomats conclave was also held at the said centre in which Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan attended along with diplomats from Korea, UK, Maldives, Myanmar, Bhutan etc.
The Prime Minister, while addressing the gathering via video conference, said that the theme of the festival
�RISEN: Research, Innovation and Science Empowering the Nation� reflects the aspirations of the 21st century India.
He said that Science and Technology has a major impact on the society and as such the Government is providing institutional support for both invention and innovation.
Advocating for a strong ecosystem supporting Science and Technology, he said every effort is being taken to support innovation in the country.
In this context, he mentioned that over 5000 Atal Tinkering Labs and more than 200 Atal Incubation centres have been established.
He urged everyone to focus on the long term solutions and long term benefits that Science can provide.
On the other hand, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Harsh Vardhan, while speaking at the launching function of Mega Science Exposition (which is a part of IISF), congratulated the senior Scientists and Directors of the Science Labs for organising this scientific extravaganza.
He emphasised that bringing science and technology to the doorsteps of the common people, particularly the children, is an essential responsibility for the betterment of their day-to-day activities.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said the IISF is an initiative in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for developing India among top three Nations of the world in the sphere of science and technology by 2030 .
The Guinness World Records for the largest Astrophysics lesson and assembly of spectroscopes was successfully achieved today with participation of over 1598 students at Science City, Kolkata.
