Golden jubilee celebration of BAMSAS celebrated

Thoubal, July 28 2025: As part of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of the Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sansad (BAMSAS), the 2nd phase of its 50th-year commemoration was held on July 25 at Saroda Hall in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

The year-long jubilee celebration is being held in four phases.

During the event, L Birmangal, president of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura was conferred the "Nilima Sinha Memorial Award 2024".The award, instituted by the SK Sinha Trust, carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a citation, a shawl, and a memento.

L Birmangal is the fourth recipient of this prestigious award, which is specifically given to distinguished writers from outside Bangladesh for their contributions to Manipuri literature and culture.

Previous recipients of the award include renowned literary figures such as Saratchand Thiyam, N Tombi and Ksh Bira from Manipur.
