Imphal, May 27 2026: Rice distributed under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Kshetrigao AC should not be used as a political tool, said Pangambam Anita, secretary of Kshetrigao Nupi Lamjing Lup, on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters at EYCA Community Hall, Porompat, she demanded an immediate end to the alleged practice of politicising rice distribution.

Anita alleged that beneficiaries are being arbitrarily added and removed from the list based on personal preferences.

"Such actions are causing serious hardship to the common people.

Denying rice to genuine beneficiaries is unfortunate", she said.

She pointed out that many beneficiaries who received rice in February have been excluded this month, while some who did not get it earlier have now been included.

"This raises doubts whether the list is being manipulated at the will of those handling distribution", she added.

Appealing against using rice distribution for political gain, Anita urged authorities to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their entitled quota without bias.
