Imphal, July 24 2025:
The Assam Regiment of the Indian Army recently organised an orientation programme for eight newly commissioned officers including visit to the Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong and Leimakhong Military Station, Manipur.
According to PRO Defence, the visit commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Shantivan, the revered War Memorial of the station, serving as a powerful reminder of the valour and enduring traditions of the Indian Army.
The officers then engaged in a heart-warming interaction with ex-servicemen residing in and around Leimakhong.
Organised as a core component of their orientation, the session was meticulously designed to foster a deep and lasting connection between the young officers and the regimental veterans.
By engaging with the veteran community early in their careers, the newly commissioned officers not only absorbed invaluable lessons but also embraced the larger brotherhood of the Indian Army, a bond that will guide them throughout their service, said the PRO .
