Kakching, May 24 2026: Ahead of the observance of World Environment Day, students of the Eco Club Unit of Padma Ratna English School today conducted a cleanliness drive within the school campus and along stretch of Panjao Panlum road leading to the institution.

The drive was carried out as part of the Eco Club's continuous environmental activities for 2026, aimed at promoting cleanliness and ecological awareness among students.

Speaking on the occasion, teacher Naorem Mohen said the initiative was particularly focused on reviving trees planted during the previous year.

He noted that tree plantation alone is not sufficient and stressed the importance of nurturing and maintaining saplings to ensure a greener and healthier environment.

He said that such activities are being carried out regularly under the Eco Club to instil environmental responsibility among students.

A student, Brinda Naorem, said that maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is a collective responsibility of students.

She highlighted that their participation in the drive was also aimed at ensuring the survival and growth of previously planted trees.

She added that students must go beyond academics and actively contribute to social responsibilities, urging collective efforts to conserve the environment for a better future.
