'Free Group Accident Insurance' launched for children with disabilities

Imphal, May 20 2026:
The State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Manipur, has notified that the Inclusive Counsellors & Rehabilitation Association (ICRA) has launched a free Group Accident Insurance Policy for Children with Disabilities in collaboration with TATAAIG.
The pilot initiative, informed by the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, will remain valid up to September 2026 and may be renewed based on stakeholder response.
The scheme is also available on the Sugamya Bharat App of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Under the policy, children with disabilities are covered for Rs 1,00,000, while their parent or guardian is covered for Rs 2,00,000 .
It also provides Rs 50,000 cashless inpatient treatment for children with disabilities.
The scheme applies to all 21 categories of disabilities and does not require benchmark disability criteria.
A Government disability certificate or UDID card is accepted as valid proof.
The premium is currently being borne by ICRA through CSR support, and no additional data is required except for the prescribed 'Excel sheet' .
At the time of claim settlement, the onus of submitting supporting documents rests with the insured or guardian.
All concerned organisations and stakeholders have been urged to extend cooperation and help eligible children avail the benefits.
