Imphal, November 18 2024:
Equating abduction of six innocent civilians, including three minors, from Jakuradhor Karong in Borobekra subdivision of Jiribam district on November 11 as most gruesome terror act of Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists, the Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) claimed that the captives were killed after severe torture and rape.
According to a statement of the Pambei-led UNLF, the murder of six innocent civilians including an infant in cold-blooded manner by the Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists after taking them hostage was unprecedented and unheard of anywhere in the world.
Noting that victim women and children were taking shelter in a relief camp barely 15 metres from a CRPF camp after their houses were torched by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists in earlier attacks, the UNLF wondered how the terrorists could venture into an area with heavy deployment of Indian forces and carried out the acts of terrorism.
Despite presence of Indian forces, the terrorists killing two civilians, torching houses nearby and then abducting the six civilians from the area, imply that Indian forces are manacling the Meetei people in the ongoing conflict while giving free hand to Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists.
Instead of containing the 'war' being waged by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists on indigenous Meetei community for the past 18 months, Indian forces continue their act of suppressing the Meetei community.
Even as terrorists continue to target innocent civilians and killed peace loving Meeteis including women and children, the government of India remains indifferent while Indian forces continue to restrain the Meeteis from defend themselves.
The so-called people's government in Manipur, too, dances to tune of the government of India (GOI), the UNLF statement said adding that state government is even unable to exercise power to protect lives and properties of the people.
The statement issued by media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom further said that apart from brushing aside decision of the state cabinet to declare the killers as terrorist AFSPA-1958 has been re-imposed in areas under six police stations thereby ceding to demands of the Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists.
This is a part of India's torture of the people of Manipur to uproot revolutionaries, the media maintained.
While alleging that the seed of the ongoing Meetei and Kuki-Zo-Hmar conflict was sown by the Government of India (GOI), the UNLF contended that Kuki-Zo-Hmar are being used to wage proxy war after falling into the trap of the GOI in pursuance of latter's hidden agenda.
The statement further cautioned that bringing back peace in Manipur will remain elusive until the GOI and the Government of Manipur sincerely strive for resolving the ethnic war.
Moreover, the entire suppressed people of the land must fight it collectively with self-belief and courage, he stressed.
The UNLF also strongly condemned the firing incident at Jiribam on Sunday evening wherein an innocent youth was killed.
It called for exemplary punishment of the involved security officer by the people.
