IPM training programme for sustainable agriculture launched at KVK Bishnupur

Bishnupur, December 16 2025:
A weeklong training programme on Integrated Pest Management for Sustainable Agriculture, under the ICAR-National Research Institute for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), NEH Component, was launched today at the Training Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bishnupur.
During the inaugural session, the Training Director cum Co-ordinator of the programme, Dr P Bijaya Devi, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) of Horticulture, KVK Bishnupur, delivered the welcome and keynote address, highlighting the importance of IPM in enhancing crop productivity.
In the technical session, Dr T Basanta Singh (ARS) Scientist (Senior-Scale) Soil Science Division, ICAR Manipur Centre, provided indepth insights into soil testing techniques and emphasized the proper and timely use of fertilizers for sustainable crop management.
Dr M Thoithoi Singh, former Programme Coordinator of KVK Thoubal addressed the participants and shared valuable inputs on the preparation of compost pits and IPM techniques suitable for Rabi crops.
In the concluding technical session, Dr A Tarajit Singh, SMS (Agricultural Extension), spoke on the importance of forming Farmers' Clubs, stressing their role in knowledge sharing, collective action and overall agricultural development.
