MLA urges youth to value time, moral values

Imphal, July 13 2025: Konthoujam MLA Dr S Ranjan on Sunday underscored the importance of using time wisely and preserving cultural values, stating that these are essential for the progress of society.

He made the remarks while attending a felicitation programme for meritorious students from Konthoujam Gram Panchayat area held at Konthoujam Kangjeibung community hall.

The event, organised by Konthoujam Gram Panchayat Level Talent Hunt Association, honoured students who secured first division marks in this year's Class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM), Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Ranjan cautioned that a society that does not value its traditions, culture, religion, and moral values is bound to regress.

While emphasising that students, as the foundation of the future, must uphold and internalise these values, the MLA, however, expressed concern that many youths today seem to be disconnected from these essential aspects of society.

Dr Ranjan also highlighted the importance of time management, calling time one of the most valuable resources.

He said that progress is possible only when time is used effectively and meaningfully, warning against wasting it on unproductive pursuits.

Manipur Social Adult Agency director and CAF & PD joint secretary Daigong Gangmei, presided over the function.

Minority Affairs and OBS & SC director Bantee Singh Konthoujam, former Nehru Yuva Kendra youth co-ordinator Konthoujam Kumar, Free Progress Academy principal Leishangbam Indrakumar, LYS Group managing part ner Laishram Ratan Khuman, Yurembam Zilla Parishad administrative committee member Thiyam Robindro Singh, and Konthoujam GP administrative committee chairperson Ph Gopeshor also attended the event and shared the dais.

A total of 72 students were felicitated with certificates of appreciation, cash awards, and gift items during the programme.
