Imphal, January 12 2018: A one-day Indian Oil Kisan Mela, an initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) was organised jointly for the second time by Lamsang Oil Service (Kisan Seva Kendra) and IOCL, Imphal Divisional Office at Lamdeng Khunou, Lamsang today.

The occasion was graced by CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam as chief guest; Commissioner (CAF & PD) K Radhakumar as president; BK Ravi, IPS, Security Advisor; Dipankar Ray, ED, IOAOD SO; Uttiya Bhattacharya, CGM, IOAOD SO; SI Singh, SLC Manipur and RK (O) Shantibala Devi, proprietor of Lamsang Oil Service as guests of honour.

Speaking at the function, Karam Shyam said that the State despite having the potential to become one of the developed States is lagging behind in terms of knowledge on different fields.

He said that Indian Oil Kisan Mela is an occasion for the people especially farmers to avail beneficial items, services other than petrol, diesel and lubricants and cashless transaction at Kisan Seva Kendras of IOCL.

The Minister asserted that experts should take active participation in creating awareness on the benefits amongst the people mainly in rural areas.

He said that people nowadays have become proactive regarding their deserving rights and that is why they convey their difficulties in getting the rights to the Government through the mechanism set up by the Government.

Karam Shyam noted that there is a need to streamline the Government Departments so as to bring desired changes mainly in development.

He also said that all round development would be brought in the State only when economy of farmers is improved to a larger extent.

Aadhaar enrolment and rectification facility by Aadhaar Seva Kendra, sales and servicing of Honda two wheelers, loan facility for purchase of Honda two wheelers provided by HDFC Bank, free servicing camp for tractors, sale of certified potato seeds, display of agricultural equipment and machineries by Machelva Agro Machineries & Services and a talk on the topic "Important Pests & Diseases of Rabi Crops" by Dr M Priyodutta Singh, In-charge Plant Health Clinic, Directorate of Agriculture were the main highlights of the mela.
