Bishnupur, October 11 2025:
Welcoming the return of Sangai Festival after a hiatus of 2 years, the Society for Sangai & Nature Conservation has made an appeal to ensure that either some programs of the fest are held at Keibul Lamjao or that the festival is kicked off from here.
It is worth noting that Keibul Lamjao is the home of the Sangai deer, from which the festival derives its name.
Speaking to media persons during a press briefing held near the Keibul Lamjao National Park today, Haobijam Homeshwor, president of the Society, reiterated their appeal to conduct some events at Keibul Lamjao or to organise the inaugural lamp lighting ceremony here.
He also made an appeal to the Government to make sure that tourists who visit the State to attend the Sangai festival as well as other attendees are brought to Keibul Lamjao to learn more about the Sangai.
To facilitate this, he further appealed for repair and renovation of the road stretches from Moirang Khunou to Thanga and Kumbi Bazar to Khordak Ichil.
The press conference was attended by locals, meira paibis and members of Society for Sangai & Nature Conservation.
