CCpur DC assesses flash flood situation

CCpur, July 10 2025:
Deputy commissioner (DC) Dharun Kumar visited flood-affected areas on Thursday to assess the damage and the number of residents impacted by the flash floods, which have been battering the district since Tuesday.
While assessing the conditions of flood-affected families, he was seen distributing essential supplies such as rice, dal, cooking oil, and onions.
Beginning at noon, the DC conducted an on-site assessment of several flood-affected areas, including Zoumunnuam, New Zoveng, Kerith, Nazareth, Neihsial Veng, PCI Colony, and other impacted localities.
At 3 pm, he distributed relief materials, first assisting 48 affected families in Zoumunnuam at the village chief's residence.
Subsequently, aid was provided to an additional 28 families in New Zoveng at the local chief's residence.
Each family received a relief package consisting of 5 kg rice, 2 kg dal, 1 kg onions, and 1 litre mustard oil.
According to Sualian, secretary of the Zoumunnuam Village Authority, the floods have severely impacted 96 individuals due to household damage.
Of these, 48 families - identified as the worst affected - have been registered and are currently taking shelter at the village chief's residence.
Relief efforts have been supported by well-wishers, CSOs, and the deputy commissioner's office, ensuring the continuous provision of essential supplies such as rice, dal, and cooking oil to those in need.
