Imphal, January 09 2026: A sit-in protest was staged today at BSNL office in Babupara against the "Pension Validation Act, 2025", which was passed by the Parliament in March 2025 as part of the Finance Bill, 2025 .

The sit-in was organised by the All India BSNL DOT Pensioners Association, Manipur District Imphal.

At the sit-in, BSNL pensioners demanded the immediate withdrawal of the "anti-pensioner" legislation and the amendment of the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Terms of Reference to ensure fair pension revision for all BSNL absorbed pensioners.

Terming the Act as unconstitutional, they argued that it allows the Government to arbitrarily discriminate among pensioners regarding pay commission benefits, specifically by creating a divide between past and future retirees.

They also alleged that the Act is not just a bureaucratic change, it is an outright assault on the dignity and financial security of millions of retirees who have served the Nation with dedication.

The pensioners further emphasized that their pension is a right earned through service, not a Government favor, and that they will continue to fight for their rights.
