Imphal, May 07 2018:
Demanding revocation of the order issued by the Government recently for restricting entry of passenger vehicles in and around market areas, drivers of auto-rickshaws and Tata Magic vans plying along Mayai Lambi road staged a sit-in-protest today at Wahengbam Leikai parking.
Talking to media persons, Laishram Naba, timekeeper of Lainingthou Transport Society said that majority of the drivers are looking after their family, including education for their children by the meagre amount of money they get from the passenger service.

He said that the Government ought to understand the pitiable situation of the drivers instead of issuing the unwarranted order that came as a shocker to them.
Urging the Government to come up with an alternative means in place of the order, he cautioned that the concerned driver's associations will take up various forms of agitation if the order is not revoked at the earliest.
