JE claims 15 year old boy

Imphal, August 05 2025:
A 15-year old boy has died after being infected with Japanese Encephalitis at Phaknung Awang Leikai, Imphal East.
Notably, the State has been grappling with vector borne diseases with several cases of Dengue, Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis detected this year.
Khundongbam Elan (15) s/o Khundongbam Ibomcha of Phaknung Awang Leikai was tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis at JNIMS on August 2, according to a press release issued by the Phaknung Social Youths' Club (PSYC) .
The boy reportedly died on August 4 at JNIMS Hospital.
Subsequent upon the death of the boy due to Japanese Encephalitis, PSYC and PHALYDA carried out fogging at Phaknung Awang Leikai and surrounding areas today in collaboration with the Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Imphal East.
