Annual Visual Art Exhibition underway

Imphal, May 04 2025: A five-day annual exhibition organised by Visual Art Department of Manipur University of Culture (MUC) has been inaugurated on Sunday by the university's vice-chancellor professor Gunindro, at the Manipur State Art Gallery, Palace Compound.

The exhibition features total of 153 artworks across various mediums including painting, sculpture, applied arts and graphics.

Fifteen artists were selected from among the exhibitors and presented with awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

Additionally, the team behind the creation of the artwork 'Hiyang Race' was also presented a special award.

In his address, professor Gunindro highlighted the dual nature of university infrastructure namely physical and academic and acknowledged that while other universities may possess superior physical facilities, Manipur University of Culture excels in academics.

Highlighting the achievements of the university's students, professor Gunindro noted that MUC was declared the overall team champions at the North East Youth Festival in 2023.The Visual Art department alone secured the highest number of gold medals, and continued its winning streak by clinching national-level gold medals in subsequent years.

From 2023 to 2025, the university consistently secured gold at both national and regional youth festivals, setting an enviable national record.
