World Hepatitis Day observed at Thoubal Leishangthem

The District Health Society (DHS), Thoubal in collaboration with National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme(NVHCP), Thoubal.
organised World Hepatitis Day, 2025 at Thoubal Leishangthem Keithel under the theme "Hepatitis: Let's Break it Down" .
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal and DHS chairman, Hannah Kahmei as chief guest; District Mission Director of DHS and CMO Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul as functional president; and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Thoubal, Dr W Ruhinikumar; Leishangthem GP chairperson L Raghu, and PHC Leishangthem MO in-charge Dr Md Abdul Khaliq as guests of honour.
In her address, DC Thoubal Hannah Kahmei emphasized that although the world has witnessed significant advancement, many types of diseases, including hepatitis, still prevail.
She stressed that many diseases, if treated early and take preventive measures, can save countless lives.
She further urged the public to adopt healthy daily food habits, noting that simple lifestyle changes could go a long way in keeping vital organs healthy.
"In order to have healthy foods, we must focus on consuming organic produce and support organic farming practices," she said.
DC Hanah Kahmei also lauded the efforts of officials and staff of the concerned departments for successfully organising the programme and raising awareness.
As part of the observance, a free health screening camp for hepatitis was conducted, benefitting several local residents.
