SIR hearing process under way in Chandel

Chandel, July 30 2026: The hearing process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll for the 41-Chandel (ST) Assembly Constituency is currently underway in Chandel district as part of Phase III of the revision programme notified by the Election Commission.

As per the notified schedule, the draft electoral roll was published on July 5, 2026, while the period for filing claims and objections will continue till August 4.The disposal of claims and objections will be completed by September 2, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.The hearing of claims and objections is being conducted at the Multipurpose Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Campus, Chandel, under the supervision of Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Md Firoz Khan, to ensure that the revision process is carried out smoothly and under the prescribed guidelines.

The revision exercise is being carried out as a participatory process involving electors, election officials and recognised political parties.

Recognised political parties have also been urged to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for every polling station to assist in the revision process and ensure transparency, accuracy and wider public participation in the preparation of the electoral roll.
