Imphal, May 30 2026: Veteran CPI Manipur State Council leader Ningthoukhongjam Moirangningthou, a close associate of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, died early this morning at his residence in Keibi Khullen.

He was 97.A committed party worker since the September 1948 Pungdongbam uprising, Moirangningthou tirelessly served the people under Irabot's guidance.

He played a key role in the development of Khundrakpam Keibi, helping establish clubs and schools, and was honoured with the Jananeta Memorial Award.

He was the founder president of RINGO Youth Club, Keibi Keikakmapal, and the Irabot Memorial Trust, and contributed significantly to setting up Keibi High School, Keibi Primary School, and Sawombung High School.

The CPI Manipur State Council held a condolence meeting at Irabot Bhawan today, chaired by former state secretary Langol Iboyaima.

After observing two minutes of silence, the party flag was flown at half-mast.

Describing his death as an irreparable loss to the party and the people, the CPI expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
