Imphal, May 30 2025:
While defending its earlier statement, against which Kuki CSOs reportedly filed an FIR, referring Kukis as refugees, the Federation of Haomee FoH) contended that there is no valid reason to cry foul over the remarks as the Kukis had availed refugee funds from the Government of India.
According to president Sapamcha Jadumani, there is no justification for filing an FIR at Churachandpur police station by Kuki CSOs targeting functionaries of the Federation.
Addressing media persons at its Kabo Leikai office Friday, Sapamcha Jadumani said the Federation received report of filing FIR by Chin-Kuki-Zo CSOs against its top functionaries.
The FIR, alleging reference to Kuki as 'refugees' in Federation's statement as communal incitement, listed Federation president (Jadumani), vice president (Dr Heera Kabui), general secretary (Y Shyam), publicity & media cell secretary (Robert Kom) and youth wing secretary Kh Johnson.
However, there is nothing wrong in calling refugees (Kukis) as refugees as they are foreigners, he reiterated.
Jadumani maintained that Kukis received refugees fund under the name of Kuki Foreigner Refugees Fund from the Government of India in three phases between the year 1956 and 1973 .
They even applied for additional funds from the Government of India and there is no point for argument when the Kukis demand refugee fund by forming refugees' organisation, the president said and clarified that the Federation had no malicious intent while issuing its statement referring to Kukis as refugees with facts.
While terming the FIR lodged against its top functionaries at Churachandpur police station as unreasonable, Jadumani suggested that home department intimate Churachandpur PS on the matter and take necessary action.
Further opinion that even the officer in-charge of Churachandpur PS could be a refugee, he proposed for an investigation to verify when the said officer entered Manipur.
Jadumani said the Federation is fully aware of attempts being made by refugees from Myanmar to destroy Manipur by fabricating history.
Some prominent figures propagating separatist agenda include KNO president PS Haokip and ZRA president Thanglianpau Guite, who is former MP of Myanmar elected from Tonzang constituency.
Despite knowing dubious nationality of these persons, the Government of India signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) with them and seems to be indirectly supporting creation of Kuki land in Manipur, he rued.
