CTAEPC constituted to address environmental crisis

Imphal, July 28 2026:
Leaders representing various indigenous communities formed the Ching-Tam Apunba Environmental Protection Committee (CTAEPC), New Keithelmanbi Area during a meeting held on July 25 at Namching Maha Kabul, New Keithelmanbi.
The meeting resolved to constitute the joint body in view of the escalating environmental crisis in the State.
CTAEPC has been mandated to monitor environmental degradation in the region and to check and halt transportation of forest products and quarrying materials through New Keithelmanbi and along NH-37.Participants also extended solidarity with COCOMI and UNC's efforts to restore peace and secure justice for victims of the conflict since May 3, 2023 .
The gathering noted that narco-networks and unlawful immigration have disrupted communal harmony.
It further discussed securing apex body endorsement for an Inter-District Economic Blockade to address pressing State issues.
