Awareness programme on 'Prohibition of Child Marriage Act' held

Thoubal, January 28 2026: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoubal, in collaboration with the Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok, organised a one-day awareness programme on the "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act" at Islamic Baby English School, Lilong Mairenkhul.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLA).

During the programme, resource persons Reena Chanu Moirangthem, Legal cum Probation Officer, DCPU, Imphal East, delivered an informative talk on the topic "Child Marriage Free Bharat", highlighting the harmful impact of child marriage on education, health and overall development of children, while advocate Mayanglambam Swami Singh, spoke in detail on the "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, explaning its key.

provisions, legal implications and the responsibilities of society in preventing child marriage.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and teachers of the institute.

A quiz competition was also held as part of the event to reinforce awareness, and winners were later felicitated with prizes.
