Thoubal, May 24 2026:
The Lilong Haoreibi College Students' Union has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur demanding the upgradation of Lilong Haoreibi College into a Post Graduate (PG) and university-level institution along with comprehensive infrastructural development under the Government of Manipur.
In the memorandum submitted yesterday, the Students' Union highlighted various developmental requirements of the college and urged the State Government to take necessary steps at the earliest to fulfil the educational aspirations of students and the people of the surrounding areas.
Among the key demands placed before the Government were recognition of Lilong Haoreibi College as a Minority Institution, construction of an ITEP Administrative Block, and construction of a separate administrative block for the college.
The memorandum also sought creation of teaching and non-teaching staff posts for the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) and other degree programmes being offered by the institution.
Further demands included construction of separate toilets for boys and girls in the ITEP Block, additional classrooms and science laboratories, blacktopping of the approach road leading to the ITEP Block, and construction of a proper boundary wall or fencing around the college campus.
The Students' Union also appealed for the construction of a footbridge near Lilong Haoreibi College to facilitate easier access and ensure the safety of students and the public.
Stating that the institution has been serving the educational needs of the region for many years, the union urged the Government to prioritise the overall academic and infrastructural development of the college for the benefit of future generations.
