RIMS hosts orientation programme

The Research Ethics Board, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, successfully organised an Orientation cum Sensitization Programme on "Ethical Research practices" today at the Sushruta Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the programme aimed to strengthen research practices and emphasize the importance of ethical integrity within the institution.
The programme was graced by dignitaries, including Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Dean, School of Human & Environmental Sciences, Manipur University; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; Prof AK Joy Singh, Dean, School of Medical Sciences, Manipur University; Dr Shantibala Konjengbam, Head, Department of Community Medicine.
RIMS; and Prof L Rajesh, Dean (Academics).
Addressing the gathering, Prof S Jibonkumar stated that ethical clearance is mandatory for all research involving human subjects across disciplines.
He noted that while some studies may be exempt, research with ethical concerns requires approval, and journals require this clearance for publication.
Resource persons delivered lectures on critical topics-"Checklist for Ethical Review of Research Involving Human Participation", "Bio-Cultural Competence and Ethical Conduct", and "Foundational Ethical Frameworks: Cardinal Principles".
A key feature was the conduct of mock ethical review sessions, providing practical exposure to the review process and documentation requirements.
