Imphal, September 22 2024:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has condemned the recent statement by security advisor Kuldiep Singh that 900 Kuki militants had infiltrated Manipur with plans to attack the Meetei community.
In a release, KIM denounced the claims as baseless, unfounded, and part of a misinformation campaign aimed at demonising the Kuki-Zo community.
KIM contended that it is not the Kuki-Zo people but the Meetei insurgent groups, allegedly supported by the state government, carrying out coordinated attacks against the Kuki-Zo population.
The Inpi also expressed concerned over alleged state-sponsored violence against the Kuki-Zo people, fuelled by the spread of misinformation portraying the Kuki-Zo population as aggressors rather than victims.
KIM said that such propaganda not only distorts the reality of the ongoing conflict but also reflects complicity of the state government and its agencies.
KIM then demanded that Kuldiep Singh reveal the sources of his intelligence, questioning whether the information originated from credible agencies such as the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Directorate General of Military Intelligence (DGMI), Bordersecurity Force, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), or the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) .
KIM contended out that none of these agencies have corroborated the security advisor s claims.
They maintained that such false allegations may have been made under political pressure to retain the post of security advisor, adding that the ongoing disinformation campaign underscores the need for a political solution to the Kuki-Zo crisis.
Kuki Inpi Manipur reiterated its call for a political resolution to the ongoing conflict and urged for accountability and transparency from state authorities.
